Sydnee Thompson graduated summa cum laude from Wayne State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with honors. That summer, she was selected to enter the Dow Jones News Fund’s News Editing internship program, and copy edited foreign and national news full time at The New York Times from June to August 2014. She also served as a full-time copy editing intern at The Detroit News from October 2014-January 2015, where she edited arts and entertainment, local, and national news. On the fiction publishing side, she served as a copy editing intern and freelance proofreader at Spencer Hill Press. Sydnee currently works as a freelance editor and proofreader for Limitless Publishing and a full-time copy editor at Hour Media LLC, a magazine publisher based in metro Detroit.
Although her editing and writing work transcends categories, fiction is her first love. Romance, suspense, and fantasy are her favorite genres to read, write, edit, and review. She is currently a member of the American Copy Editors Society.
Other hobbies include painting, taking naps, and staring pensively out a window while it rains.
On pronouns: Sydnee is nonbinary and her default pronouns are she/her/hers, but also occasionally uses they/them/theirs and is open to he/him/his as well. It is fine to refer to her as a woman and include her in women of color/Black women lists and categories unless she explicitly requests otherwise.
